He won a gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Games and participated in the 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Paralympics. ==Personal== Burroughs was born on 28 October 1978 in West Union, Ohio in the United States. He migrated to Australia with his family in 1979. Burroughs has a form of cerebral palsy – which affects the right side of the body. He attended St Francis Xavier College and Hawker College in Canberra. On growing up with a disability, Burroughs commented “I was the only ‘disabled’ kid in my year at school so I had no choice on who I wanted to do PE (education ) with. I did everything in PE or had a go at it. Something I was very bad at but not the worst. It made me feel better about myself.
